In recent years, we have thought that commercially
made toffee didn't taste like it did when we were young.
With this in mind, we began to develop our own original
toffee recipe that tasted more like it did years ago. After
three years of experimentation, we were finally confident
that we had achieved our goal.
We have avoided using any preservatives or artificial
flavourings. We hand make each batch and allow it to
cool naturally. When it is ready, we hand-wrap it and
then refrigerate. The refrigeration allows the toffee to be
kept indefinitely (we have kept some to test for over a
year with no change). If the toffee is kept at 70F/21C
degrees or cooler it should last for about a month.
Because we use no preservatives, our toffee turns to a
granular consistency if allowed to heat and cool (some
people prefer this and leave it out on purpose). If you
like a smooth, chewy consistency then please
refrigerate.
We wanted to provide a smaller, bite size piece of
toffee for more enjoyment. Our toffee is moulded into
an 'oblong' shape from our own original design. When
it has cooled, we hand-wrap each piece and package it
either in plastic bags or paper bags - your choice. We
leave the gift wrapping to you.
We do everything by hand in our inspected commercial
kitchen in order to maintain the quality of each batch.
This limits our toffee production to what our family can
make, but we think it's worth it. We know you will too.
